Ibiza, Spain

Officially known as Eivissa, Ibiza is one of Balearic Islands with a length of 42 km by highway. The three major cities in Ibiza are Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Santa Eularia des Riu and other interesting destinations to visit here are such as Formentera. Most travellers refer to Formentera and Ibiza as ‘islas Pitiusas, a Greek word that means pine tree. This is in regard to the many pines covering the entire landscape of the island. There are has nearly 150, 000 inhabitants on it. Despite Balearic Catalan being the official language used in Balearic Islands including the sign posts, the main language is Castilian- Spanish and most natives speak either German or English.

English speaking tourists can expect a great time at Ibiza as English is widely spoken and understood all over the island. The locals here are very friendly and hospitable. Getting around Ibiza is conveniently done by buses and tourists can as well rent a car but need to drive it cautiously as locals are very terrible drivers. Detour roads developed temporarily to enable construction of new roads are dangerous and poorly marked. The city is adequately small to be toured around on foot and you can walk to most of the attractions in Ibiza city and surrounding areas. There are no many attractions in Ibiza but tourists can still expect their holiday vacation to be busy.

The Es Vedra is a mystical island rock located in Ibiza and frequented by many tourists. The Atlantis is a hidden cove and locals can tell you where it is secretly located. The old section of Ibiza Town is also very common among tourists as well as Passeig de ses Fonts located in San Antonio. The nearby Formentera can also be visited by boat as you proceed down to explore the numerous beaches located along the coast. It is highly recommendable

The Hippy Market in Ibiza is very famous and it is held on every Wednesday and there is also another one on Saturdays in San Carlos. Another very exciting attraction in San Carlos is the Bar Anita and this historical venue is very popular on the island. Writers and artists of Ibiza used to collect cheques here and have some drinks during the early 50s and 70s.

Another must see attraction in Ibiza is the Cova de Can Marca located at Puerto de San Miguel. This is reputed as the biggest natural cave in Ibiza. Ibiza is also home to a very beautiful beach found just outside the town. You will see many young locals flocking here to pay rental money on beach chairs. There are also many hawkers here and clubs that make the place more vibrant and interesting for tourists. You can also go parasailing or rent a yacht in Ibiza to spend your free time. There are several schools on the island where you can also go to learn Spanish especially in Ibiza Town. There are also professional photo shoots which can as well get engaged in during your vacation.
