Paris, France – Travel Guide

Paris, coined as the City of Love or City of Lights, is also the Fashion Capital of the world. It is home to fashion giants such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Lancôme, L’Oréal, and Yves Saint-Laurent. Paris has been the center of lovely attractions and nice hospitality. Its cuisines are the kinds to aim for when treating yourself to any of the fine restaurants in the city. Paris is an important tourist destination for France and covers up some of the essential historic sites that reveal much of the rise in western culture.

Paris can be reached by plane, train, bus or car transport. You can enter Paris by plane through two major airports – Orly (ORY) and Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), with the latter being the busier airport and home to Air France – KLM. From there, various modes of transportation such as taxi, bus or private cars for rent are available to take you to your destination.

As part of the Eurozone train connection, France is connected to the rest of the continent by train. Places connected to Paris by train are Cologne, Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Zurich-Switzerland, Stuttgart-Germany, Luxembourg, France, and Italy.

Some bus lines also operate within several European countries including France. Euro lines – A trans-European bus company that has trips to and from Paris. They offer prices that are generally cheaper than trains but of course, at the expense of a longer journey. The Parisian office is located at Bagnolet, adjacent to the Gallieni metro station. Megabus – A low-cost British bus company offering routes to and from Paris, coming from all across the United Kingdom, Amsterdam, and Brussels.

Several expressways connect Paris with the rest of France: A1 and A3 to the north, A5 and A6 to the south, A4 to the east and A13 and A10 to the west. However, this is not the best option to choose as traffic jams in the city can really get worse, especially on French holidays.

With the year-round events taking place in the city, it is therefore advisable that you plan your trip ahead to ensure hotel availability and to avoid paying at premium prices. You will also save more bucks if you can travel in groups. Hotel accommodations are sometimes cheaper than individual hostels when traveling with a group.

Must-see places in Paris are the Eiffel Tower, the most photographed spot in Paris; Notre Dame Cathedral with its French Gothic architecture, The Louvre, one of the finest museums in Europe, and Champs-Elysées. There are also child-friendly places in Paris such as Cite Des Enfants in the 19th with an interactive and educational museum for kids segregated by age; Jardin Du Luxembourg in the 6th which has a merry-go-round, a puppet theater, and a pond for sailboats; and The Jardin d’Acclimatation in the 16th housing pint-sized roller coasters and a mini-zoo. Lastly, don’t leave Paris unless you have cruised through the Seine River while sightseeing all that Paris has to offer. Indeed, you can recount your whole Paris experience while enjoying the scenery.
