General info

Fiji is an island nation in the South Pacific, consisting of 330 islands, of which one third is inhabited. It also contains 500 islets (a very small island’s with a surface big enough to fit your house and garden in it ). This paradise island is spaced on 75,000 sq mi ( 194,000 square kilometers) from which only 10% or 7,100 sq mi ( 18,300 square kilometers) is a land full of beaches and relaxation in the sun.

Most popular of the 330 islands are “Viti Levu” and “Vanua Levu. Those are one of the best places to visit in Fiji. They are also the biggest and contain around 90% of the Fijian population. The capital of the country is  Suva and its located on  Viti Levu. With its suburbs, it counts around 170 000 people.

Things to do in Fiji

Scuba Diving is probably the best thing you can do. Soft coral reefs can bring you the opportunity to explore the blue water’s rich with exotic fish and water plants that you have never seen anywhere else. Snorkeling is another good thing to do. If you are too afraid to join the scuba diving team, snorkeling can provide an excellent combo of relaxation, swimming, and observation of marine life. Swimming is probably the most common and best thing you can do.

Climate

The climate in Fiji is warm during the whole time. It is divided into two seasons. One is the warm season occurring from November till April. This period of time is characterized with rainfalls. Powerful natural elements as Cyclones happen in the warm season but they happen really rear, like once a year. The temperature in the warm season is around 87.8 ºF ( 31 ºC ).In the dry season, the temperature stays around 79 ºF ( 26 ºC ). The best time to visit Fiji is from June to October.

Language and population

Official languages in Fiji are Fijian, English and Hindustani. English is the official language is a major advantage for a pleasant vacation in Fiji. The population in Fiji consists of native Fijians ( around 54 % ) and Indo-Fijians ( around 38 % ) and a small percentage of Europeans and Chinese.
