Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska, USA

Alaska’s most-visited attraction is the Denali National Park and Preserve, and it is a famous spot for all the valid reasons. The park’s vast size of 6-million acres plays host to the region’s wilderness, mountain views and wildlife. It is the sanctuary of numerous creatures including grizzly bear, moose, wolves and caribus. Mt. McKinley, the highest mountain in North America, is in Denali National Park.

The mountains in Denali are so huge they seem to appear like walls in the wilderness. The sky of North America is dominated by Denali’s snow cap mountains blending perfectly with the soft, white clouds.  The park may be world-famous for its splendid mountain ranges, but the wonders of Denali do not just stop there. Here, the opportunity to be up-close to magnificent creatures takes place. You will be delighted to see wolves, caribus and other rare animals freely roaming in all the corners of their natural habitat. Surely, there is no other place to see such a breath-taking sight.

Wonder Lake at the base of the mountain and Reflection Lake on the east of the park are just two of the many gems of Denali. These two lakes are so stunning that they become favorite subjects of photography enthusiasts. There is a vast hiking trail in Denali and with varying courses, there is surely one that fits your stamina and strength. The waters of Nenana River parallel to the highway are famous for whitewater rafting and other water-related activities. Meanwhile, you can unleash the adventurous side of you and take part in wilderness safaris.

When you visit the park, you will access its premises either through Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport or Fairbanks International Airport. Cars can access it via the George Parks Highway and trains depart from both Fairbanks and Anchorage. The main road heading to the park is accessible only up to Savage River and most of the tourists take this chance to explore the magnificent surroundings of the river. There are hiking trails in both sides of Savage River and the brave ones can hike the top of Mount Margaret for some Dall sheep encounter. From the Savage Rive, you head to Denali through the park’s shuttle service.
