Yosemite National Park, USA

Located in Sierra Nevada, Yosemite National Park is an internationally known national park in US thanks to its spectacular water falls, granite cliffs, giant sequoia groves, biological diversity and clear streams. Sitting on a 750, 000 acre land, the national park is home to thousands of ponds and lakes, river streaks, roads and hiking trails. Currently, Yosemite National Park is ranked at number three in terms of the most visited United States national parks with an annual visitor turnover of over 4 million. Yosemite’s main popularity results from its massive domes and granite cliffs found at the park. This spectacular landscape consisting of dramatic slopes, river beds and streams alongside narrow, deep canyons and snow and ice makes it a perfect destination worthy a visit during your vacation.

There is a great diversity of flora and fauna in Yosemite National Park with over 300 species of animals being spotted at the park. There is an abundance of black bears at the park and their occasional conflict with humans has resulted in injuries and property damage. Other animal species you can expect to find at the park include gray fox, bobcat, great gray owls, mountain beaver, white headed woodpeckers, martens, squirrels, coyotes and some hair species. Most of the vegetation here consists of majorly coniferous forest and this is also the place where you can expect to find the world’s largest trees, giant sequoias. When visiting Yosemite National Park with your car, keep in mind there are no petrol/ gas stations and you should carry enough fule with you.

Private cars pay a park fee of $20 while individuals on motorcycle, bike and foot pay $10 and entrance fee is valid for a maximum of seven days. Yosemite National Park is extremely vast and most visitors will come here for a minimum of two days. Spring is generally the park’s peak season and during summer as well.

The impressive cliffs, waterfalls, meadows and unusual formations of rocks have made Yosemite Valley popular all over the world. Traffic at the valley during summer time can be hectic like in a big city and shuttle buses are the most recommended means of transport at the site. Half Dime granite monolith is the most popular sight at this valley and has become a legendary name among climbers.

Yosemite National Park is home to one of the world’s highest waterfall and it is an impressive sight to see especially during spring. Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park is a historic structure that dates back to 19th Century and continues to marvel most visitors even to date. There are many exciting activities to engage in at the national park like hiking for the physically fit vacationers along the many footpaths and trails at the park. Rock climbing at the national park is not just spectacular but also challenging as well. Other alternative activities you can involve yourself in at Yosemite National Park are such as horseback riding, golf and skiing as well as shopping for gift items at Yosemite.
